Patience in the Face of Preference

SUMMARY: The Prophet (s.a.w) advised a man from Ansar to be patient and not to be jealous of those who were appointed over him, as preferential treatment will occur after the Prophet's death.

Usaid bin Hudair said: "A man from Ansar said, 'O Messenger of Allah! You appointed so-and-so and did not appoint me. So, the Prophet(s.a.w) said, 'After me you will see preferential treatment, so be patient till you meet me at Al-Hawd"'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Remain Patient when faced with preference/favoritism; Trust Allah's plan; Strive for Paradise; Don't focus too much on worldly matters such as favoritism/preference here on Earth .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of patience in the face of preference or favoritism. A man from Ansar was upset that he was not appointed by the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w). The Prophet then advised him to be patient and reminded him that preferential treatment would occur after his death, so he should remain patient until they meet at Al-Hawd, which is a pool in Paradise where all believers will drink from it on Judgment Day. This hadith teaches us that we should remain patient when faced with favoritism or preference and trust Allah's plan for us instead of being jealous or envious towards others who are favored over us. We must also remember that our ultimate goal is to reach Paradise and drink from Al-Hawd on Judgment Day, so we should strive for this goal instead of focusing on worldly matters such as favoritism or preference here on Earth.
