Sahih al-Bukhari 2908 (Book 56, Hadith 121) #2781
The Courage of the Prophet (ﷺ)

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) was the bravest and most courageous person, and he reassured the people of Medina when they were scared.

Narrated Anas: The 'Prophet was the best and the bravest amongst the people. Once the people of Medina got terrified at night, so they went in the direction of the noise (that terrified them). The Prophet met them (on his way back) after he had found out the truth. He was riding an unsaddled horse belonging to Abu Talha and a sword was hanging by his neck, and he was saying, "Don't be afraid! Don't be afraid!" He further said, "I found it (ie the horse) very fast," or said, "This horse is very fast". (Qastala-ni)

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the courage and bravery of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It is narrated by Anas ibn Malik that one night, people in Medina were scared due to a noise they heard. The Prophet ﷺ went to investigate what it was, riding an unsaddled horse belonging to Abu Talha with a sword hanging from his neck. When he found out that there was nothing to be afraid of, he returned back reassuring them not to be afraid. He also mentioned how fast his horse was. This hadith shows us how brave and courageous the Prophet ﷺ was even in difficult situations, as well as how much he cared for his people's safety and wellbeing. It teaches us that we should always remain calm in times of distress or fear, just like our beloved prophet did during this incident. We should also strive to help others who are in need or distress whenever possible so that we can follow in his footsteps and become better Muslims ourselves.
