Jami at-Tirmidhi 2145, 2145 (Book 32, Hadith 13) #27778
The Four Pillars of Faith

SUMMARY: A person cannot be considered a believer until they believe in four things: the testimony of La Ilaha Illallah, that Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) is the messenger of Allah, death and resurrection after death, and predestination.

'Ali narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'A slave (of Allah) shall not believe until he believes in four: The testimony of La Ilaha Illallah, and that I am the Messenger of Allah whom He sent with the Truth, and he believes in the death, and he believes in the Resurrection after death, and he believes in Al-Qadar". Another chain reports a similar narration.

QUICK LESSONS:
Believe in La Ilaha Illallah; Believe Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam was sent with truth; Accept death as part life cycle; Believe resurrection after death according to predetermination set by God Almighty himself .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that in order to be considered a true believer one must have faith in four main pillars. The first pillar is the testimony of La Ilaha Illallah which means there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger. This statement serves as an affirmation of faith for Muslims and it must be said with sincerity for it to count as a valid declaration of belief. The second pillar is believing that Prophet Muhammad was sent by Allah with truth; this includes accepting all teachings he brought from Allah such as the Quran and Sunnah. Thirdly, one must believe in death; this means accepting that life on earth will come to an end at some point and everyone will die eventually regardless of their status or wealth on earth. Lastly, one must also believe in resurrection after death; this means believing that everyone will be resurrected on judgement day where they will receive their rewards or punishments based on their deeds while alive on earth according to predestination set by God Almighty himself .
