Sahih al-Bukhari 2899 (Book 56, Hadith 113) #2773
The Prophet's Encouragement for Archery

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) encouraged the people of Bani Isma'il to practice archery, and assured them that he was with all of them.

Narrated Salama bin Al-Akwa': The Prophet passed by some people of the tribe of Bani Aslam who were practicing archery. The Prophet said, "O Bani Isma'il ! Practice archery as your father Isma'il was a great archer. Keep on throwing arrows and I am with Bani so-and-so". So one of the parties ceased throwing. Allah's Apostle said, "Why do you not throw?" They replied, "How should we throw while you are with them (ie on their side)?" On that the Prophet said, "Throw, and I am with all of you".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's encouragement for the tribe of Bani Isma'il to practice archery. He passed by some people from this tribe who were practicing archery and told them that their father, Isma'il, was a great archer. He then said that he was with all of them, which made one party stop throwing arrows out of respect for him. However, he encouraged them to continue throwing arrows as he was with all parties involved. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive to do our best in whatever activity we are doing and not be discouraged by any opposition or obstacles in our way. It also shows us how much respect the Prophet Muhammad had for his followers and how much importance he placed on encouraging others to do good deeds.
