Responsibility for Poor Dependents

SUMMARY: The responsibility of taking care of poor dependents is on the shoulders of the Prophet (S.A.W).

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah(S.A.W) said: "Whoever leaves wealth then it is for his heirs, and whoever leaves poor dependents then it (the responsibility) is for me".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be generous towards those in need; Take responsibility for helping out poor dependants; Show kindness & compassion towards others; Give charity whenever possible .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the responsibility that falls upon us when it comes to taking care of those who are less fortunate than us. The Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) said that if someone leaves behind wealth, then it should be given to their heirs, but if they leave behind poor dependants, then it is up to him and his followers to take care of them. This teaches us that we should always be mindful and generous towards those in need, as this was a commandment from Allah's Messenger himself. We must strive to help those who are unable to help themselves and ensure that they have access to basic necessities such as food, shelter and clothing so that they can live with dignity and respect in our society.
