The Value of Discipline Over Charity

SUMMARY: It is better to discipline one's son than to give charity.

Jabir bin Sumurah narrated that the Messenger of Allah said : "That a man should discipline his son is better for him than to have given a Sa' in charity".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith highlights the importance of disciplining one's son over giving charity. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that it is better for a man to discipline his son than to give a Sa' in charity. A Sa' was an ancient unit of measurement, and so this hadith implies that even if a person has the means and resources to give away large amounts of money in charity, it would still be more beneficial for them to focus on disciplining their children instead. This hadith teaches us that raising children with good morals and values is more important than giving away money in charity, as it will benefit both the child and society as a whole in the long run.
