Repentance Through Dutifulness

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ advised a man to repent for his sins by being dutiful to his maternal aunts.

(Another chain) From Ibn 'Umar: A man came to the Prophet and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I have been afflicted by a tremendous sin. Is there any repentance for me?" He said: "Do you have your mother?" The man said: "No". He said: "Do you have any maternal aunts?" The man said: "Yes". He said: "Then be dutiful to them".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of repentance and dutifulness. It tells us that even if we have committed a great sin, we can still repent and be forgiven by Allah. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) advised a man who had committed a tremendous sin to show kindness and respect towards his maternal aunt as an act of repentance. This teaches us that even small acts of kindness can help us in our journey towards repentance and forgiveness from Allah. We should always strive to be kind and respectful towards our family members as this will bring us closer to Allah's mercy. Furthermore, it also shows the importance of respecting our elders regardless of their relationship with us; this is something that all Muslims should strive for in their daily lives.
