Jami at-Tirmidhi 1898 (Book 27, Hadith 2) #27529
The Most Virtuous Deeds

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that the most virtuous deeds are to pray on time, be dutiful to one's parents, and engage in Jihad in the cause of Allah.

Ibn Mas'ud said: "I asked the Messenger of Allah: 'O Messenger of Allah! Which is the most virtuous of deeds?' He said: 'Salat during its appropriate time'. I said: 'Then what, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Being dutiful to one's parents'. I said: 'Then what, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Jihad in the cause of Allah'. Then the messenger of Allah was silent, and if I had asked him more, he would have told me more'."

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the most virtuous deeds according to Prophet Muhammad. He said that prayer during its appropriate time is the most virtuous deed, followed by being dutiful to one's parents and then engaging in jihad for Allah. Prayer is an important part of a Muslim's life as it helps them stay connected with their Creator and remember Him throughout their day. Being dutiful to one's parents means showing respect for them, taking care of them when they need help, and honoring their wishes whenever possible. Lastly, jihad means striving or fighting for a good cause such as helping those who are oppressed or defending oneself against injustice. All three acts are considered very important by Muslims because they bring us closer to God and help us become better people overall.
