Jami at-Tirmidhi 1891 (Book 26, Hadith 32) #27522
Drinking from a Hanging Water-Skin

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ was seen drinking from a hanging water-skin, and the chain of narration is not considered reliable.

Narrated 'Eisa bin 'Abdullah bin Unais: From his father who said: "I saw the Prophet standing at a hanging water-skin, so he bent it, then drank from it". He said: There is something on this topic from Umm Salamah. Abu 'Eisa said: The chain of this Hadith is not Sahih'.Abdullah bin 'Umar Al-Umayr (a narrator in the chain) was graded weak due to his memory, and I do not know if he heard from 'Eisa or not.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be careful when narrating Hadiths, Consume food/drink mindfully .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet's practice of drinking from a hanging water skin. It is narrated by Eisa Bin Abdullah Bin Unais who heard it from his father. However, the chain of narration is not considered reliable due to one narrator in the chain being weak in memory and it being uncertain if he heard it directly from Eisa or not. This hadith teaches us that we should be careful when narrating hadiths and make sure that we have reliable sources for our information. We should also be mindful when consuming food or drink as to where it comes from and how hygienic it may be.
