This hadith discusses the prohibition of preparing a beverage called NābÄ«dh in earthenware vessels. NābÄ«dh is an Arabic word for a type of drink made from dates or raisins that has been allowed to ferment. It was commonly consumed by Arabs during the time of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and it was also used as a medicine for some illnesses. In this hadith narrated by Sulaiman At-Taimi from Tawus and Ibn 'Umar it is mentioned that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ prohibited preparing this drink in earthenware vessels known as Majālis or QarÄ«n which were commonly used at that time to store liquids such as water or milk. This prohibition was further confirmed by other narrators such as Abu Sa'eed Al Khudri and Aisha who also reported similar narrations on this topic. Therefore we can conclude that it is prohibited to prepare NābÄ«dh in earthenware vessels according to Islamic teachings.
