Jami at-Tirmidhi 1860 (Book 25, Hadith 78) #27490
Taking Responsibility

SUMMARY: One should take responsibility for their own actions and not blame others.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: That the Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever spends the night with a smell on his hand and something happens to him, then let him not blame anyone but himself". Abu 'Eisa said: This Hadith is Hasan Gharib, we do not know of it as a narration of Al-'Amash except through this route.

QUICK LESSONS:
Take personal accountability and accept consequences of one's actions.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us the importance of taking responsibility for our own actions. It is narrated by Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said, “Whoever spends the night with [a smell] on his hand and something happens to him, then let him not blame anyone but himself”. This means that if someone does something wrong or makes a mistake, they should not try to blame someone else for it. Instead, they should accept responsibility and learn from their mistakes in order to do better in the future. It is important to remember that we are all responsible for our own actions and no one else can be blamed if something goes wrong.
