Performing Salat Without Wudu'

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ performed Salat without performing Wudu' after eating a piece of lamb shoulder.

Narrated Ja'far bin 'Amr bin Umayyah Ad-Damri: From his father who said that he saw the Prophet making incisions (with a knife) into a piece of a lamb shoulder which he ate from, then he went to perform Salat without performing Wudu'. Abu 'Eisa said: This Hadith is Hasan Sahih and there is something on this topic from Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah.
حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ الضَّمْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّهُ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ احْتَزَّ مِنْ كَتِفِ شَاةٍ فَأَكَلَ مِنْهَا ثُمَّ مَضَى إِلَى الصَّلاَةِ وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ‏.‏ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ

This hadith is about the Prophet's practice of performing salat without wudu'. It is narrated by Ja’far bin ‘Amr bin Umayyah Ad-Damri and his father, as well as Al-Mughirah bin Shu’bah. The Prophet ate a piece of lamb shoulder before he went to perform salat without performing wudu'. This hadith shows us that it is permissible to perform salat without wudu', although it is preferable to do so with wudu'.
