Participating in Military Expeditions and Eating Locusts

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the companions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) participating in military expeditions and eating locusts.

Narrated Abu Ya'fur: That Ibn Abi Awfa said: "We participated in seven military expeditions with the Messenger of Allah , (and) we ate locust". Abu 'Eisa said: Shu'bah reported this Hadith from Abu Ya'fur, from Ibn Awfa and said: "We participated in military expeditions with the Messenger of Allah (and) we ate locust". This was narrated to us by Muhammad bin Bash-shar (who said): "Muhammad bin Ja'far narrated to us from Shu'bah".
حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ، وَالْمُؤَمَّلُ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى، قَالَ غَزَوْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ سَبْعَ غَزَوَاتٍ نَأْكُلُ الْجَرَادَ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَرَوَى شُعْبَةُ، هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَنْ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى، قَالَ غَزَوْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ غَزَوَاتٍ نَأْكُلُ الْجَرَادَ ‏.‏ حَدَّثَنَا بِذَلِكَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ بِهَذَا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrates an incident from the life of the companions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It tells us that they participated in seven military expeditions with the Messenger of Allah (PBUH). During these expeditions they ate locusts as food. This shows us how devoted and dedicated they were to their faith and to their leader. They were willing to go through any hardship for their religion and for their beloved prophet. It also teaches us that we should be prepared to face difficulties with courage and determination when it comes to our faith or any other cause we believe in. We should not be afraid or discouraged by hardships but instead strive hard for what is right even if it means going through difficult times.
