Caps of Companions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the caps of the companions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) which were stretched over their heads.

Narrated Abu Sa'eed - who is 'Abdullah bin Busr: "I heard Abu Kabshah Al-Anmari saying: 'The Kimam (caps) of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah were Buthan (stretched over the head)'." Abu 'Eisa said: This Hadith is Munkar, 'Abdullah bin Busr is from Al-Basrah, and he is weak according to the people of Hadith. Yahya bin Sa'eed and others graded him weak. Buthun means expansive.
حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمْرَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، وَهُوَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بُسْرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا كَبْشَةَ الأَنْمَارِيَّ، يَقُولُ كَانَتْ كِمَامُ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ بُطْحًا ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ مُنْكَرٌ ‏.‏ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بُسْرٍ بَصْرِيٌّ هُوَ ضَعِيفٌ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْحَدِيثِ ضَعَّفَهُ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَغَيْرُهُ ‏.‏ وَبُطْحٌ يَعْنِي وَاسِعَةٌ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith talks about the caps worn by the companions of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. It states that these caps were stretched over their heads and were called Kimam. The narrator, Abu Sa'eed - who is 'Abdullah bin Busr, has been graded as weak according to people of Hadith. Buthun means expansive in Arabic language. This hadith teaches us to follow the Sunnah and emulate our beloved prophet in all aspects including clothing and dressing style. We should also take care to wear clothes that are modest and not too tight or too loose so as to maintain a balance between modesty and comfortability while following Sunnah at the same time.
