Wearing Silk During Battle

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ allowed two of his companions to wear silk shirts during a battle due to them complaining of lice.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: That 'Abdur Rahman bin 'Awf and Az-Zubair bin Al-'Awwam complained of lice to the Prophet during a battle that they participated in. So he permitted them to wear silk shirts. He (Anas) said: "I saw them wearing them". Abu 'Eisa said: This Hadith is Hasan Sahih

QUICK LESSONS:
Be considerate towards others when they are in need or discomfort .

EXPLANATIONS:
During a battle, two of the Prophet's companions, Abdur Rahman bin 'Awf and Az-Zubair bin Al-'Awwam, complained about having lice. In response, the Prophet allowed them to wear silk shirts as an exception. Anas reported that he saw them wearing these shirts. This hadith is considered Hasan Sahih which means it is reliable and authentic. It teaches us that exceptions can be made in certain situations if there is a valid reason for it and that we should be considerate towards others when they are in need or discomfort.
