The Best Horse According to Prophet Muhammad

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ advised that the best horse is a black one with a spot on its face and white on its upper lip, and some white on its lower legs except for the right.

Narrated Abu Qatadah: That the Prophet said: "The best horse is the black one with a spot on the face, and white on the upper lip. Then the one with some white on his lower legs, except for the right. So if it is no black, then the Kumait (red one with black on its ears and its mane) with these markings".
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ عُلَىِّ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ خَيْرُ الْخَيْلِ الأَدْهَمُ الأَقْرَحُ الأَرْثَمُ ثُمَّ الأَقْرَحُ الْمُحَجَّلُ طَلْقُ الْيَمِينِ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ أَدْهَمَ فَكُمَيْتٌ عَلَى هَذِهِ الشِّيَةِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrated by Abu Qatadah tells us about the best horse according to Prophet Muhammad. He said that the best horse is a black one with a spot on its face and white on its upper lip. It should also have some white markings on its lower legs except for the right leg. If it is not black then it should be Kumait which has red color with black ears and mane. This hadith teaches us to take care of our animals in order to get better results from them as well as appreciate their beauty in all forms. We can also learn from this hadith that we should always look out for details when selecting something important like horses or any other animal or object of value so that we can make sure we are getting what is best for us in terms of quality and performance.
