Leading Prayers

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) instructed two people to lead the prayer and let the elder of them lead.

Narrated Malik bin Al-Huwairith: On my departure from the Prophet he said to me and to a friend of mine, "You two, pronounce the Adhan and the Iqama for the prayer and let the elder of you lead the prayer".
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو شِهَابٍ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلاَبَةَ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ الْحُوَيْرِثِ، قَالَ انْصَرَفْتُ مِنْ عِنْدِ النَّبِيِّ ، فَقَالَ لَنَا أَنَا وَصَاحِبٌ لِي ‏ "‏ أَذِّنَا وَأَقِيمَا، وَلْيَؤُمَّكُمَا أَكْبَرُكُمَا

This hadith is about leading prayers. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ instructed two people to pronounce the Adhan and Iqama for prayer and let the elder of them lead. This hadith teaches us that we should respect our elders and follow their leadership in religious matters. It also teaches us that we should be mindful of our duties towards Allah SWT by performing prayers regularly with proper recitation of Adhan and Iqama. We should also strive to learn more about Islamic teachings so that we can properly perform our religious obligations as Muslims.
