Jami at-Tirmidhi 1618 (Book 21, Hadith 82) #27230
Refraining from Attack at Dawn

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) would not attack except near the time of Fajr, and if he heard the Adhan he would refrain from attacking.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: That the Prophet would not attack except near the time of Fajr, so if he heard the Adhan he would refrain, and if not, then he would attack. So he listened one day and heard a man saying: "Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar," so he said: "Upon the Fitrah". Then he said: "I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah". So he said: "You have departed from the Fire".

QUICK LESSONS:

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about refraining from attacking near the time of Fajr. It was narrated by Anas bin Malik that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would not attack except near the time of Fajr. If he heard the call to prayer known as Adhan then he would refrain from attacking. One day while listening for this call to prayer, he heard a man saying "Allahu Akbar" which means "God is great". Upon hearing this phrase, Prophet Muhammad said "Upon the Fitrah" which means upon natural disposition or instinct. He then said "I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah". By saying this phrase it shows his faith in God and his belief that no one should be worshipped but Him alone. He concluded by saying “You have departed from Fire” meaning you have been saved from Hellfire due to your faith in God and His Oneness. This hadith teaches us about having faith in God and His Oneness as well as refraining from attacking during certain times such as dawn or when people are praying or worshipping Him.
