Jami at-Tirmidhi 1609 (Book 21, Hadith 72) #27220
Inheritance of the Prophet

SUMMARY: The hadith is about Fatimah, the daughter of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), coming to Abu Bakr and Umar to ask them about her inheritance from the Prophet. They told her that they heard the Prophet say that he was not inherited from. She then said she would never talk to them again and died without speaking to them again.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: That Fatimah came to Abu Bakr and 'Umar may Allah be pleased with them both, to ask them about her inheritance from the Messenger of Allah . They said: "We heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'I am not inherited from'." So she said: 'By Allah! I will never talk to you two again'. So she died having not talked to them"'.Ali bin 'Eisa said: "The meaning of not speaking to you two is: 'Never again regarding this inheritance, because you two are truthful'."

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a conversation between Fatimah, daughter of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his companions Abu Bakr and Umar. When she asked them about her inheritance from the Messenger of Allah, they told her that they heard him say "I am not inherited from". This means that no one can inherit anything directly from him as he did not leave any wealth behind for anyone specifically. However, this does not mean that his family did not receive any inheritance at all; rather it means that whatever was given to his family was given out of love and kindness rather than as an obligation or right due to their relationship with him. This hadith also teaches us a valuable lesson in patience; even though Fatimah disagreed with what Abu Bakr and Umar said, she still respected their opinion enough to remain silent until her death without ever speaking against them again.
