The Jizyah Tax in Islamic History

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the Jizyah tax taken from Zoroastrians of Bahrain by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and later by Umar and Uthman.

Narrated Malik : From Az-Zuhri, that Sa'ib bin Yazid said: "The Messenger of Allah took the Jizyah from the Zoroastrians of Bahrain, and 'Umar took it in Persia, and 'Uthman took it from the Persians". I asked Muhammad about this, so he said: "It is: 'Malik from Az-Zuhri from the Prophet '."

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a tax called Jizyah which was taken from Zoroastrian people living in Bahrain during the time of Prophet Muhammad PBUH and later on by his companions Umar and Uthman. It was a form of protection money that was paid to Muslims for protecting them against any harm or danger. The payment of this tax also ensured that these people were allowed to practice their religion freely without any interference or persecution. This hadith teaches us that it is important to respect other religions and beliefs even if they are different than ours as long as they do not cause any harm or danger to others. It also teaches us that we should be tolerant towards those who have different beliefs than ours so we can live together peacefully in harmony with each other despite our differences.
