Jami at-Tirmidhi 1584 (Book 21, Hadith 46) #27194
The Battle of Qurayza and Pubic Hair

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the battle of Qurayza and how those who did not have pubic hair were spared.

Narrated 'Atiyyah Al-Qurazi: "We were presented to the Messenger of Allah on the day of (the battle of) Qurayza. Whoever had pubic hair was killed and whoever did not was left to his way. I was of those who did not have pubic hair so I was left to my way". Abu 'Eisa said: This Hadith is Hasan Sahih. This is acted upon according to some of the people of knowledge. They consider pubic hair an indication of the age of responsibility, if it is not known whether he has had a wet dream, or his age. This is the view of Ahmad and Ishaq.

QUICK LESSONS:
Consider a person's age before punishing them
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the battle of Qurayza, which was a battle between Muslims and Jews in Medina. During this battle, those who did not have pubic hair were spared from being killed. According to some scholars, pubic hair is an indication that someone has reached the age of responsibility, which means they are old enough to understand right from wrong. Therefore, if someone does not have pubic hair it can be assumed that they are too young to be held responsible for their actions. This hadith teaches us that we should always consider a person's age before punishing them for any wrongdoing.
