The Significance of 'Aqiqah Ceremony

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that two sheep should be sacrificed for a boy and one sheep for a girl in the 'Aqiqah ceremony.

Narrated Umm Kurz: That she asked the Messenger of Allah about the 'Aqiqah. He said: "For the boy is two sheep, and for the girl is one, it will not harm you if they (ie the sheep) are male or female".
