The Lasting Impact of Good Deeds

SUMMARY: The deeds of a person are cut off after death, except for three things: charity, knowledge that others benefited from, and a righteous son who supplicates for him.

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: "When a person dies, his deeds are cut off except for three: Continuing charity, knowledge that others benefited from, and a righteous son who supplicates for him".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the lasting impact of good deeds. It teaches us that even after death, our actions can still have an effect on the world around us. Three types of good deeds are mentioned in this hadith; charity, knowledge and having a righteous son who supplicates for you. Charity is giving money or goods to those in need without expecting anything in return. Knowledge is understanding something deeply and being able to share it with others so they can benefit from it as well. Having a righteous son means raising your children according to Islamic teachings so they will remember you in their prayers when you pass away. All these acts will continue to benefit people even after we die and will bring rewards for us in the afterlife as well as here on earth.
