Judging with Patience and Compassion

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised judges to not pass judgement between two people while they are angry.

'Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Bakrah narrated: "My father wrote to 'Ubaidullah bin Abi Bakrah who was a judge: "Do not pass a judgement between two people while you are angry, for indeed I heard the Messenger of Allah saying: 'The judge should not judge between two people while he is angry'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Judges should remain patient and compassionate when making decisions .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of judging with patience and compassion. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ advised judges to not pass judgement between two people while they are angry. This is because when a person is angry their judgement can be clouded by their emotions and this can lead to an unfair decision being made. Instead, the judge should remain patient and compassionate in order to make a fair decision that takes into account both sides of the argument. It is important for judges to remember this advice so that justice can be served in all cases.
