The Sins of Arrogance, Disrespectful Clothing and False Oaths

SUMMARY: Allah will not look at or purify those who are arrogant, wear clothes below the ankles, and promote their merchandise with false oaths.

Narrated Abu Dharr: That the Prophet said: "There are three whom Allah will not look at on the Day of Judgement, nor will He purify them, and theirs is a painful punishment". We said: "Who are they O Messenger of Allah ? For they have indeed failed and are lost!" He sai: "The Mannan, the one whose Izar hangs (below the ankles) and the one who promotes his merchandise with false oath". He said: There are narrations on this topic from Ibn Mas'ud, Abu Hurairah, Abu Umamah bin Tha'labah, 'Imran bin Husain, and Ma'qil bin Yasar Abu 'Eisa said: The Hadith of Abu Dharr is a Hasan Sahih Hadith.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about three sins that Allah will not forgive on the Day of Judgement. The first sin is arrogance or kibr in Arabic. This means to think too highly of oneself and to be proud in a way that is disrespectful to others. The second sin is wearing clothes below the ankles or libas in Arabic. This means to show disrespect by wearing clothing that does not cover one’s body properly according to Islamic teachings. The third sin is promoting one’s merchandise with false oaths or yamim al-qawl al-batil in Arabic. This means lying about what one has for sale so as to make it seem more valuable than it really is. All three of these sins are considered very serious by Allah and He will not forgive those who commit them on the Day of Judgement but instead they will receive a painful punishment for their actions.
