Adornment and Darkness on the Day of Judgment

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) compared a woman who wears adornments to impress others to darkness on the Day of Judgment, as there will be no light for her.

Maimunah bin Sa’d who was a servant for the Prophet, narrated that The Messenger of Allah said: "The parable of the woman who walks to impress others in adornments for other than her family, is that of darkness on the Day of Judgment: There is no light for her".

QUICK LESSONS:
Dress modestly and focus your efforts on pleasing Allah

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how one should dress and behave in public. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) warned against wearing adornments for the purpose of impressing others, as it is considered a form of vanity. He compared this behavior to darkness on the Day of Judgment, where there will be no light for those who have done so. This hadith teaches us that we should not seek attention or admiration from people by dressing up or wearing jewelry; instead, we should focus our efforts on pleasing Allah and living according to His teachings. We should also remember that our actions in this life will determine our fate in the hereafter, so it is important to strive towards righteousness and piety at all times.
