Jami at-Tirmidhi 1156 (Book 12, Hadith 11) #26724
The Sacrifice of Love

SUMMARY: Barfah's husband, a black slave, was trying to get her to stay with him when she was freed but she chose not to.

Ibn Abbas narrated: "Barfah's husband was a black slave belonging to Banu Al-Mughirah. On the day that Barirah was freed. By Allah! It is as if I can see him in the streets of Al-Madinah behind her. Indeed tears were flowing down his beard while he was trying to get her to chose to stay with him, but she did not do it".

QUICK LESSONS:
Love others sacrificially
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the story of Barfah and her husband, a black slave belonging to Banu Al-Mughirah. On the day that Barirah was freed, her husband followed her in the streets of Al-Madinah and begged for her to stay with him. Despite his pleas, she chose not to stay with him and he cried tears down his beard as he watched her go. This hadith teaches us about the power of love and sacrifice; even though it would have been easier for Barfah's husband if she stayed with him, he still let her go because he loved her enough to want what was best for her. It also teaches us that sometimes we must make difficult choices in life; although it may be hard at first, these choices can lead us towards a better future.
