SUMMARY: This hadith explains the ruling of Allah regarding married women captives.

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect marriage and treat prisoners with kindness and compassion

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the ruling of Allah regarding married women captives. According to this hadith, when Muslims capture prisoners in a battle, they are not allowed to marry any of the married women among them except those whom their right hands possess. This means that if a Muslim captures an unmarried woman as a prisoner, he can marry her if he wishes. However, it is forbidden for him to marry any woman who was already married before she was captured by Muslims. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that we should respect marriage and not break up families even in times of war or conflict. He also taught us that we should treat prisoners with kindness and compassion and not take advantage of them in any way.
