Jami at-Tirmidhi 916 (Book 9, Hadith 109) #26482
Flexibility in Religious Duties

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) allowed two people to perform their religious duties in a different order than prescribed.

Abdullah bin Amr narrated: "A man asked the Messenger of Allah: 'I shaved before slaughtering'. So he said: 'Slaughter, and there is no harm'. Another man asked him: 'I performed the sacrifice before stoning'. He said: 'Stone, and there is no harm'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow Allah's commands and fulfill your obligations towards Him sincerely .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the flexibility and leniency that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) showed when it came to religious duties. In this hadith, two men asked the Prophet about performing their religious duties out of order. The first man asked if he could shave before slaughtering an animal for sacrifice and the second man asked if he could perform a sacrifice before stoning an animal. In both cases, the Prophet allowed them to do so without any harm or consequence. This shows us that even though there are certain rules and regulations when it comes to performing our religious duties, we should not be too strict with ourselves or others as long as we are following Allah's commands and fulfilling our obligations towards Him. We should also remember that Allah is Most Merciful and He will forgive us for any mistakes we make as long as we repent sincerely and strive to do better in future.
