Jabir narrated: "When the Prophet arrived in Makkah, he performed seven (circuits) of Tawaf around the House. Then he came to the Maqam and said: And take you (people) the Maqam (place) of Ibrahim as a place of prayer. Then he prayed behind the Maqam. Then he came to the (Black) Stone to touch it. Then he said: 'We begin with what Allah began with'. So he began at As-Safa and recited: Indeed As-Safa and Al-Marwah are among the Symbols of Allah".
The hadith teaches us about performing rituals according to Islamic teachings and following what Allah has commanded us to do by starting with what He started with - reciting verses from His book - as well as respecting places that have been mentioned in it such as As-Safa and Al-Marwah. It also shows us how important it is for Muslims to perform their religious duties properly by following all steps correctly without leaving any out or doing them incorrectly so that they can gain rewards from Allah for their deeds on Judgment Day.
