Entering and Leaving Makkah

SUMMARY: Prophet Muhammad entered Makkah from its higher side and left from its lower side.

Aishah narrated: "When Prophet came to Makkah he entered it from its higher side, and left from its lower side".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُوسَى، مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ لَمَّا جَاءَ النَّبِيُّ إِلَى مَكَّةَ دَخَلَ مِنْ أَعْلاَهَا وَخَرَجَ مِنْ أَسْفَلِهَا ‏.‏ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ‏.‏ قَاَلَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ عَائِشَةَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ

EXPLANATIONS:
Prophet Muhammad was a great example of humility and respect for the holy city of Makkah. He entered the city from its higher side as a sign of respect for the sanctity of the place. Similarly, he left it from its lower side to show his humility towards it. This hadith teaches us to always be humble and respectful when entering or leaving any sacred place or even any place in general. We should also remember that we should always enter places with respect and leave them with humility.
