The Prophet's Hajj and Umrahs

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) performed one Hajj and four Umrahs.

Qatadah narrated: "I said to Anas bin Malik: 'How many times did the Prophet perform Hajj?' He said: 'He performed one Hajj and he performed four Umrah: An Umrah during Dhul-Qa'dah; the Umrah of Al-Hudaibiyah, and Umrah with his Hajj, and an Umrah from Al-Ji'irranah when he divided up the war spoils of Hunain'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Perform religious duties such as pilgrimage/umra if able to do so financially & physically; Be generous with your wealth by giving away some possessions or money when you have extra or when you come across those who are less fortunate than you.

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ performed one pilgrimage to Makkah known as the Hajj and four minor pilgrimages known as the Umrah. During his lifetime he performed an Umrah during Dhul Qa’dah which is the tenth month in the Islamic calendar; an Umrah during Al Hudaibiyah which is a valley located near Makkah; an Umra with his Hajj; and finally an umra from Al Ji’irranan which was after he divided up war spoils from a battle called Hunain. This hadith shows us that it is important for Muslims to perform their religious duties such as performing pilgrimage to Makkah at least once in their lifetime if they are able to do so financially and physically. It also teaches us that we should be generous with our wealth by giving away some of our possessions or money when we have extra or when we come across those who are less fortunate than us.
