Making Up Missed Fasts During Menstruation

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), women were allowed to make up missed fasts due to menstruation, but not required to make up missed prayers.

Aishah narrated: "We would menstruate during the time of the Messenger of Allah, then when we became pure we were ordered to make up the fasts but we were not ordered to make up the Salat".

EXPLANATIONS:
During the time of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) women were allowed to miss their daily prayers when they were menstruating. However, they were still required to make up any fasts that they had missed due to their menstrual cycle. This is because fasting is a form of worship and an act of devotion towards Allah, and it is important for Muslims who are able to do so, regardless of gender or physical condition. The Prophet Muhammad also taught that it was important for Muslims not only in terms of fulfilling religious obligations but also in terms of maintaining good health and well-being. Therefore, even though women may miss out on some prayers during their menstrual cycle, they should still strive to fulfill their fasting obligations as much as possible.

This hadith teaches us about the importance of fulfilling our religious obligations even when we are physically unable or hindered from doing so due to certain conditions such as menstruation or illness. It also reminds us that Allah knows best what is best for us and He has given us guidance on how we can maintain our spiritual connection with Him despite any physical limitations we may have at times.
