Forgetful Eating and Drinking Does Not Break Fast

SUMMARY: Eating or drinking forgetfully does not break the fast.

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever eats or drinks forgetfully, then he has not broken (the fast), for it was only a provision that Allah provided for him".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be forgiving of yourself when you make mistakes; remember Allah provides for you even when you are unaware; understand Allah knows what is in your heart; follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about fasting, which is a religious practice in Islam. It teaches us that if we forgetfully eat or drink something while fasting, it does not break our fast. This means that if we accidentally consume something while fasting, it will not be counted against us and our fast will still be valid. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was teaching us to be forgiving of ourselves when we make mistakes and to remember that Allah provides for us even when we are unaware of it. We should also remember that Allah knows what is in our hearts and He understands if we make a mistake out of forgetfulness or ignorance.
