The Prophet's Practice of Sitting After Praying Fajr

SUMMARY: The Prophet would remain seated in the same place after praying Fajr until the sun had risen.

Jabir bin Samurah narrated: "When the Prophet prayed Fajr he would remain seated where he had prayed until the sun had risen".
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ إِذَا صَلَّى الْفَجْرَ قَعَدَ فِي مُصَلاَّهُ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ
