Praying Two Rak'ah for Zuhr Prayer on a Journey

SUMMARY: The Prophet prayed two Rak'ah for Zuhr prayer while on a journey.

Ibn Umar narrated: "I prayed Zuhr with the Prophet on a journey as two Rak'ah, and two Rak'ah after it".
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ، عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ الظُّهْرَ فِي السَّفَرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَبَعْدَهَا رَكْعَتَيْنِ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ ‏.‏ وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ ابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ وَنَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet's practice of praying two Rak'ah for the Zuhr prayer while on a journey. It is narrated by Ibn Umar that he prayed with the Prophet two Rak'ah for the Zuhr prayer and then two more after it. This hadith teaches us that when we are travelling, we should pray two Rak'ah instead of four as is usually done in normal circumstances. It also shows us how important it is to follow the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and to take his teachings seriously in our lives. We should strive to emulate him in all aspects of life so that we can be closer to Allah SWT and gain His pleasure.
