QUICK LESSONS:
Be flexible in your religious practices according to your physical abilities and conditions; Be mindful of how much effort you put into your religious practices so as not to exhaust yourself unnecessarily; Respect elders for their wisdom; Follow the example of Prophet Muhammad PBUH .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Umm Salamah tells us that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to perform the Witr prayer with thirteen Rak’ahs. This is a special prayer that is done at night after Isha prayer and before Fajar prayer. When the Prophet became older and weaker, he changed his practice of performing this special prayer from thirteen Rak’ahs to seven Rak’ahs. This teaches us that we should be flexible in our religious practices according to our physical abilities and conditions. We should not push ourselves too hard if we are unable to do something due to age or health reasons. We should also be mindful of how much effort we put into our religious practices so as not to exhaust ourselves unnecessarily.
