Praying with the Qur'an at Night

SUMMARY: The Prophet (S) stood in prayer with an Ayah from the Qur'an at night.

Aishah narrated: "The Prophet (S) stood (in prayer) with an Ayah from the Qur'an at night"
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ الْعَبْدِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُتَوَكِّلِ النَّاجِيِّ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ قَامَ النَّبِيُّ بِآيَةٍ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ لَيْلَةً ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ

This hadith tells us that the Prophet Muhammad (S) would stand in prayer during the night and recite an ayah from the Quran. This shows us how important it is to pray and to read from the Quran, especially during nighttime when we can be closer to Allah. It also teaches us that we should strive to make our prayers meaningful by reciting verses of the Quran, as this was something that was done by our beloved Prophet Muhammad (S).

The importance of praying and reading from the Quran is further emphasized by this hadith, as it shows us how much value our beloved Prophet placed on these two acts. We should strive to emulate his example and make sure that we are taking time out of our day for both prayer and reading from Allah's book.
