Prayer of Five Rakah

SUMMARY: The Prophet (S) prayed five Rakah for Zuhr, and when asked if the prayer had been added to or forgotten, he performed two prostrations after saying Salam.

Abdullah bin Masud narrated: "The Prophet (S) prayed five (Rakah) for Zuhr, so it was said to him: 'Has the prayer been added to, or have you merely forgotten?' So he (S) performed two prostrations after he had said the Salam".

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray with mindfulness and dedication

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of prayer in Islam. It was narrated by Abdullah bin Masud that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ prayed five Rakah for Zuhr, which is a type of prayer done during midday. When someone asked him if he had added to the prayer or forgotten something, he responded by performing two prostrations after saying Salam. This shows us that it is important to remember our prayers and be mindful of them at all times. Additionally, it teaches us that we should not be ashamed or embarrassed if we make a mistake; instead we should take responsibility for our actions and correct them as soon as possible.

The lesson here is that Muslims should always strive to pray with mindfulness and dedication so they can reap its rewards in this life and in the hereafter. Furthermore, it teaches us humility; even though Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was a great leader who was revered by many people, he still took responsibility for his mistakes without hesitation or shame.
