The Prophet's Prayer Posture

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) led his followers in prayer and held his left hand with his right.

Qabisah bin Hulb narrated from : his father who said: "Allah's Messenger lead us in prayer and hold his left hand with his right".
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ هُلْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ يَؤُمُّنَا فَيَأْخُذُ شِمَالَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ ‏.‏ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ وَغُطَيْفِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَسَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ هُلْبٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ ‏.‏ وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ وَالتَّابِعِينَ وَمَنْ بَعْدَهُمْ يَرَوْنَ أَنْ يَضَعَ الرَّجُلُ يَمِينَهُ عَلَى شِمَالِهِ فِي الصَّلاَةِ ‏.‏ وَرَأَى بَعْضُهُمْ أَنْ يَضَعَهُمَا فَوْقَ السُّرَّةِ ‏.‏ وَرَأَى بَعْضُهُمْ أَنْ يَضَعَهُمَا تَحْتَ السُّرَّةِ ‏.‏ وَكُلُّ ذَلِكَ وَاسِعٌ عِنْدَهُمْ ‏.‏ وَاسْمُ هُلْبٍ يَزِيدُ بْنُ قُنَافَةَ الطَّائِيُّ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prayer posture of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is narrated by Qabisah bin Hulb from his father that Allah's Messenger lead them in prayer and held his left hand with his right. This shows us that it was a common practice for the Prophet to hold both hands together while praying. It also teaches us that we should follow the example of our beloved prophet in all aspects of our lives including how we pray. We should strive to emulate him as much as possible so that we can be closer to Allah and receive His blessings.
