Calling Adhan and Iqamah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) instructed Ziyad bin Al-Harith As-Suda'i to call the Adhan for the Fajr prayer and Bilal wanted to call the Iqamah, but the Prophet said that Ziyad had already called it.

Ziyad bin Al-Harith As-Suda'i narrated: "Allah's Messenger ordered me to call the Adhan for the Fajr prayer. I called the Adhan, then Bilal wanted to call the lqamah. Allah's Messenger said: 'Indeed the brother from Suda' has called the Adhan, and whoever calls the Adhan he calls the Iqamah'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Obey instructions from religious leaders/authority figures . Respect others’ responsibilities/duties/tasks assigned by religious leaders/authority figures . Follow orders given by those in authority over you . Do your best at whatever task you are given .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how important it is to obey Allah's Messenger. In this hadith, we learn that when Allah's Messenger gave an order or instruction, it was important for people to follow it. The Prophet Muhammad instructed Ziyad bin Al-Harith As-Suda'i to call the Adhan for the Fajr prayer and Bilal wanted to call the Iqamah as well. However, since Ziyad had already called it, there was no need for Bilal to do so as well. This teaches us that when someone has been given a task or responsibility by Allah's Messenger then they should fulfill their duty without hesitation or delay. It also teaches us that we should not try and take on tasks which have already been assigned by someone else as this could lead to confusion and chaos in society.

The importance of obedience is further highlighted in this hadith as even though Bilal wanted to do something good by calling out both adhans he still followed what Allah's Messenger said instead of doing his own thing which shows us how important obedience really is in Islam.
