Hastening for Prayers

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would hasten to perform Zuhr prayer more than the people, while the people would hasten to perform Asr prayer more than him.

Umm Salamah narrated: "Allah's Messenger would hasten Zuhr more than you (people), while you (people) hasten Asr more than him".
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ أَشَدَّ تَعْجِيلاً لِلظُّهْرِ مِنْكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ أَشَدُّ تَعْجِيلاً لِلْعَصْرِ مِنْهُ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith highlights the importance of punctuality and hastening towards prayers. It is narrated by Umm Salamah that Allah's Messenger would always be eager to perform his Zuhr prayer on time and he was very punctual in this regard. On the other hand, it is observed that people tend to be less punctual when it comes to performing their Asr prayers. This hadith serves as a reminder for us all that we should strive to be punctual in our prayers and not delay them unnecessarily. We should also remember that Allah's Messenger was an example of perfect conduct and we should try our best to emulate him in all aspects of life including being punctual for our prayers.
