Signs of a Hypocrite

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that the signs of a hypocrite are lying, dishonesty, and breaking promises.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger said, "The signs of a hypocrite are three: I whenever he speaks, he tells a lie, II whenever he is entrusted, he proves to be dishonest, III whenever he promises, he breaks his promise.
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سُهَيْلٍ، نَافِعِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَبِي عَامِرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ آيَةُ الْمُنَافِقِ ثَلاَثٌ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ، وَإِذَا اؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ، وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخَلَفَ
