Sunan Abi Dawud 5272 (Book 43, Hadith 500) #25563
Walking on the Sides of the Road

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) instructed men and women to keep to the sides of the road when walking together in public.

Narrated AbuUsayd al-Ansari: AbuUsayd heard the Messenger of Allah say when he was coming out of the mosque, and men and women were mingled in the road: Draw back, for you must not walk in the middle of the road; keep to the sides of the road. Then women were keeping so close to the wall that their garments were rubbing against it.

Respect each other's privacy and maintain modesty even when out in public

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how men and women should behave when they are walking together in public. The Prophet Muhammad instructed them to stay on either side of the road instead of walking in the middle. He also told them that women should be careful not to get too close to each other or rub their garments against walls while walking. This hadith teaches us that we must respect each other's privacy and maintain modesty even when we are out in public. We must also be mindful of our behavior so as not to cause any discomfort or embarrassment for others around us.
