Showing Respect to Others

SUMMARY: Respect should be shown to the elderly, those who are passing by, and those in larger groups.

Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) as saying : The young should salute the old, the one who is passing by should salute the one who is sitting, and a small company should salute a large one.

QUICK LESSONS:
Show respect through salutations or greetings such as saying “Assalamu Alaikum” or “Peace be upon you” when we meet someone.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us the importance of showing respect to others. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that we should show respect to the elderly, those who are passing by, and even those in larger groups. We can show this respect through salutations or greetings such as saying “Assalamu Alaikum” or “Peace be upon you” when we meet someone. This is a sign of politeness and good manners that will help build strong relationships with others. It is also important for children to learn these values from an early age so they can grow up respecting their elders and peers alike.
