Sunan Abi Dawud 5097 (Book 43, Hadith 325) #25388
Seeking Refuge in Allah from Wind's Evil

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the mercy of Allah and how one should not revile the wind but instead ask Allah for its good and seek refuge from its evil.

Narrated AbuHurayrah: I heard the Messenger of Allah say: The wind comes from Allah's mercy. Salamah's version has: It is Allah's mercy; it (sometimes) brings blessing and (sometimes) brings punishment. So when you see it, do not revile it, but ask Allah for some of its good, and seek refuge in Allah from its evil.

QUICK LESSONS:
Ask for its good & Seek refuge in Allah

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the mercy of Allah and how it manifests itself in different ways. The wind is a manifestation of this mercy as it can bring both blessings and punishments. We should not revile or curse the wind when we experience either blessing or punishment but rather ask for more blessings from Allah and seek refuge from any harm that may come with it. This teaches us to be grateful for all that we receive from Allah no matter what form it comes in. It also teaches us to always turn to Him when faced with difficulty or hardship as He is our only source of protection against any harm that may come our way.
