Sunan Abi Dawud 5084 (Book 43, Hadith 312) #25375
Starting and Ending the Day with Gratitude

SUMMARY: This hadith encourages people to start their day with a prayer of gratitude and protection from Allah, and to end the day with a similar prayer.

AbuDawud said: And through the same chain of transmitters the Messenger of Allah said: When one rises in the morning, one should say: "We have reached the morning, and in the morning the dominion belongs to Allah, the Lord of the universe. O Allah! I ask Thee for the good this day contains, for conquest, victory, light, blessing and guidance during it; and I seek refuge in Thee from the evil it contains and the evil contained in what comes after it". In the evening he should say the equivalent.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith encourages us to start our days by expressing gratitude for the blessings we have been given, as well as seeking protection from any harm that may come our way. We should also end our days in a similar manner, thanking Allah for all that has happened throughout the day and asking for His protection against any evil that may come in the future. By doing this, we are reminded of how much Allah has blessed us and how important it is to be thankful for these blessings. Additionally, it serves as an important reminder of how fragile life can be, so we must always seek refuge in Him from any harm or danger that may come our way.

By starting each morning with this prayer of gratitude and protection, we are reminded of how much Allah loves us and cares about us. It also helps us stay focused on what is truly important in life - being grateful for all that He has given us while also seeking His guidance when faced with difficult decisions or situations. Furthermore, it serves as an important reminder to always put trust in Him no matter what comes our way - whether good or bad - knowing He will always provide whatever is best for us if only we turn towards Him in faith and humility.
