Sunan Abi Dawud 5053 (Book 43, Hadith 281) #25344
Praising Allah for His Blessings

SUMMARY: This hadith is about praising Allah for providing us with food, drink, satisfaction and refuge.

Anas said: When the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) went to his bed, he would say: Praise be to Allah who has fed us, given us drink, satisfied us and given us refuge. Many there are who have no one to provide sufficiency for them, or give them refuge.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be thankful for all blessings bestowed upon you by Allah; think about those who are less fortunate than you; help others in need whenever possible; express gratitude towards God before going to bed every night .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith highlights the importance of being grateful to Allah for all the blessings He has bestowed upon us. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to thank Allah before going to bed by saying “Al-Hamdulillah” which means “all praise be to God”. We should be thankful for the food we eat, the water we drink, and our overall wellbeing. We should also remember those who are less fortunate than us and do not have anyone to provide them with basic necessities or a place of refuge.

This hadith teaches us that we should always be grateful and appreciative of what we have been given by Allah as it could easily have been taken away from us at any moment. It also encourages us to think about those who are less fortunate than ourselves and help them in whatever way possible so that they too can experience some comfort in their lives.
