The Power of Positive Language

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the importance of using appropriate language and avoiding negative expressions.

Abu Umamah b. Sahl b. Hunaif quoted his father as saying : None of you must say Khabuthat nafsi (My heart is heaving), but one should say Laqisat nafsi (My heart is being annoyed).
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ لاَ يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ خَبُثَتْ نَفْسِي وَلْيَقُلْ لَقِسَتْ نَفْسِي
