Narrated Usamah ibn Akhdari: A man called Asram was among those who came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: What is your name? He replied: Asram. He said: No, you are Zur'ah.
The importance of names is highlighted in many Islamic teachings. For example, Allah has ninety-nine different names which each have their own special meaning and significance. Similarly, when naming children or even animals, Muslims often choose meaningful names which reflect their faith or culture. Therefore this hadith serves as a reminder for Muslims to take care when choosing or changing their own name or those of others around them.
